In most non-domestic type premises, the Responsible Person should ensure a suitable & sufficient Fire Risk Assessment has been carried out. Anything that has a bearing on Fire Safety or Fire Precautions should be recorded.These are called ‘The significant findings’. Everybody who works or occupies the premises has a legal right to know about them.

Having properly recorded these findings, the Responsible person has a legal obligation to inform all occupiers about them & if necessary, train those people to be able to deal with any increased risk, safely.

Penhallow Hotel owners admit fire safety breaches

A Yorkshire company that owned a hotel in Cornwall which was destroyed by fire in 2007 has admitted two charges of failing to meet fire safety standards.

Three people died as a result of the fire at the Penhallow Hotel in Newquay.
